A record number of voters participated in the recent election in St. Charles County, with 228,700 ballots cast over the absentee voting period and on Election Day. This surpasses the previous record of 223,533 set in November 2020. Despite this increase in voter participation, turnout was slightly lower at 76% due to a rise in voter registrations.

The county currently has 301,218 registered voters. Of these, 76,338 voted before Election Day, while 152,362 voted on Election Day itself.

An audit involving a hand count of randomly selected precincts and races will be conducted on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. The event will take place at the Election Authority located at 397 Turner Blvd., St. Peters. Both Republican and Democratic participants from this election will supervise the process to ensure accuracy by comparing hand-counted totals with machine-counted results. The findings are expected to be available by the end of Thursday.

Election Director Kurt Bahr is scheduled for interviews regarding this process.
