When it snows, the City of St. Charles Snow and Ice Removal Team operates continuously in 12-hour shifts to clear snow from streets. The city also offers a Driveway Access Snow Removal Program to assist seniors and people with disabilities by removing snow from the public right-of-way in front of their driveways.

Residents can apply for this program if they live in a private, single-family home and are either 67 years or older or have a medical condition that limits their ability to remove snow. Those who qualify can register to have their names added to a list for assistance when more than six inches of snow accumulate in their driveway's public right-of-way. After clearing roads, the team will address driveway access for residents enrolled in this special program. The service is limited to clearing snow within the public right-of-way, which typically extends several feet into the driveway from the street.
